Keep Moving
Adjust the work to your ability. Keep the effort honest. Your hard doesn’t have to look like my hard. But it does have to be honestly hard for you.
The Gen X Jumps Philosophy
Strength, mobility, conditioning, and coordination don’t preserve themselves. The longer you stop using them, the harder they are to get back. Restart when you need to. Rebuild what you’ve lost.
You’re not done. Let’s make hard work normal again.
The Standard
Expect to work. Expect to make mistakes. Expect to keep going.
Adjust the work to your ability. Keep the effort honest. Your hard doesn’t have to look like my hard. But it does have to be honestly hard for you.
Start where you are now. Regain what you’ve lost.
Train for what you want your body to do years from now.
Respect where people start. Be proud when they keep showing up.
I know what it’s like to struggle with being out of shape and overweight. Like a lot of adults my age, I’ve gone through my own fitness “peaks and valleys” over the years.
In my late 40s, I weighed 235 pounds. Using P90X, I lost 50 pounds to get back to my “normal” 185. But by the time I was 55, I had regained much of that weight - clocking in at a portly 215 pounds.
This time, I worked my way down to 175 using jump rope, bodyweight exercises, weight training, and better nutrition.
Now in my 60s, I still make time to exercise, manage my diet, work around setbacks, and make adjustments when life and my body decide to challenge me.
Gen X Jumps grew out of all of that. Now I share the workouts I do, what I’ve learned about nutrition, what works for me, what doesn’t, and what I’m still figuring out.
Gen X Jumps is built for other adults 50+ who want to get in better shape now so they can stay capable later.
